Our Story
Get to Know Us
Hearthstone & Harbor began with one small hope: to build a place where weary souls could stop for breath and find enough strength for the next step. After twenty-five years in the trenches of social-service work, I’d watched good people run out of steam: nurses and teachers, shelter staff and first responders, all of them carrying other people’s sorrows home in their coats.
So I lit a small fire and put a light in the window. I wrote the stories and blessings that had carried me through, sketched reminders that even a patched-up life can still be beautiful, and waited for others who needed the same warmth.
Whether you serve others for a living or just keep trying to love the world the best you can, the long pull of life finds us all. But so do the bright spots , the laughter, the kindness, the holy hush of an ordinary evening. Hearthstone & Harbor holds space for it all: the weight and the wonder, the tired hours and the small joys that keep us going.
